Privacy
What we know about you.
Short version: we take an order, we bring you breakfast. There is no account to make, no password to keep and no card details to hand over. Here is the longer version, in plain English.
What we ask you for
When you place an order through the basket, we ask for your name, phone number, delivery address and pincode, and optionally a preferred date. We need these to make the delivery and to call you if the driver cannot find you.
When you use a form on the site (contact, wholesale, gather booking or the newsletter), we get whatever you type into it. Usually that is your name, email and your message.
When you pay online at checkout, your payment is handled by our secure payment provider. Card, UPI and bank details are entered on the provider’s own secure page, they never reach this website and we never see or store them. We only receive confirmation that the payment succeeded, plus the name, contact and delivery details you gave us with the order. If you order over WhatsApp instead, we send you a payment link there.
What stays in your browser
Some things are saved on your own device so the site is less annoying to use. They live in your browser's local storage, not on a server of ours, and we cannot read them from here.
- Your basket, so it survives a refresh.
- Your name, phone and address, if you have ordered before, so checkout is pre-filled. The "not you?" button on checkout clears this.
- Your last order, so "order my usual" can rebuild it.
- Your taste quiz answers, if you took the quiz.
- Your last order reference, so you can quote it to us if you ever need to.
Clearing your browser data removes all of it. Nothing here follows you to another device.
Who else sees it
We are a small kitchen, not a data company, so we lean on a few outside services to run this site. Each one is listed here because it can see something about you.
- WhatsApp (Meta). Orders are placed by sending us a WhatsApp message. That conversation sits in WhatsApp and is covered by their privacy terms as well as ours.
- FormSubmit. The site's forms are relayed to our inbox through FormSubmit, so a form you submit passes through them on the way to us.
- Vercel. The site is hosted by Vercel, so their servers handle every page you load and see your IP address in the process.
- Vercel Web Analytics. We count page views and a few anonymous actions, like which category filter gets tapped or when a basket is opened. It is cookieless, it does not follow you to other websites, and it never records your name, your address or what you typed into a form.
The typefaces and animation scripts used to load from Google Fonts, cdnjs and jsDelivr. They are now served from this site itself, so those three no longer see you at all.
We run no advertising pixels and no tracking cookies. Nobody is buying your data from us, because we are not selling it.
How long we keep it
Order messages and emails stay in our WhatsApp and our inbox for as long as we need them to run the business, sort out a delivery problem or keep our own records straight. Anything saved in your browser is yours and disappears when you clear it.
Asking us to delete it
Email info@bybreakofdawn.com and ask, and we will remove what we hold about you. You can also ask us what we have. There is no form to fill in for this. Just write to us.
