notes
is almond milk high in protein?
Nobody should drink almond milk for the protein. Here is the honest arithmetic, and where the protein went instead.
the honest answer
Dairy milk carries about 3.4 g of protein per 100 ml. Our natural almond milk, at 25% almonds, far denser than most, carries about 2.4 g per 100 ml. A typical 2–4% carton carries a fraction of that.
So no: almond milk is not a high-protein drink, ours included. Anyone telling you otherwise is selling you the label, not the almonds.
where the protein went
Protein rides with the almond solids. The more almond in the jar and the less water, the higher the number climbs, which is why the protein in an almond kitchen lives in the thick things, not the pourable ones.
Our almond butter runs 29.5 g of protein per 100 g. Vegan parmesan runs 32.3 g per 100 g. Even the cacao almond milk reaches 7 g per 100 ml, because cacao and a denser blend both pull the number up.
how to actually get protein from almonds
Build the morning on the thick end of the range: almond butter on toast or into a smoothie, parmesan over anything savoury, a cacao milk instead of a natural one when you want the number.
Every product page on this site publishes its protein per serving, from the lab sheet, including the ones where the number is modest. We would rather you pick with real figures than with a vibe.
